Thinking About Joining?
Open to any man over 18, of good character. No single type. No introduction needed. The easiest first step is an evening out.
Get in touch →Who joins?
Teachers, tradesmen, farmers, IT professionals, GPs, retired servicemen. The lodge is as varied as the county it sits in.
No specific background. No particular politics or religion. A belief in something greater than yourself, a commitment to living honestly, and a willingness to show up. That is the measure.
“I nearly did not come because I thought I would not fit in. Turns out there is no type.”
“I moved to Norfolk knowing no one. By chance, the Lodge Secretary lived next door. I have made friends across East Anglia.”
Come to a social evening
The easiest first step. We hold regular social evenings open to anyone curious about the lodge. Let us know you are interested and we will be in touch with details.

What happens when you get in touch
Three steps. No pressure at any of them.
You hear back promptly
The Secretary or a lodge member will reply with details of the next social or festive board you are welcome to attend.
Come along on the evening
No regalia, no Masonic knowledge. Someone will meet you at the door. Partners are very welcome.
If it feels right, we talk
Nobody will pressure you. If the evening sparks something, we will have a proper conversation in our own time. If not, no hard feelings.
The formal process
How joining works
After the introductory steps, the formal route to membership takes this path.
Have a conversation
Reach out or come to an event. An informal chat to answer your questions and see if Freemasonry feels right for you. No commitment at this stage.
Meet the lodge
An invitation to a social event or the festive board before any formal steps. Partners are welcome. No Masonic knowledge needed.
Be proposed
If both sides are happy, a member proposes you. The lodge votes by ballot. If accepted, your Masonic journey begins.
Your Initiation
The First Degree, conducted in Emulation Ritual. The lodge room, full of men who were once standing where you are. Many members describe it as one of the most meaningful evenings of their lives.
Common concerns
The easiest thing is to come and see
A social evening in Downham Market. No regalia, no obligation. If you want to ask a question first, we are easy to reach.
